A solidarity event in support of the Black Lives Matter movement took place at Jacobi Medical Center on Jun. 9, 2020. About 35 hospital staff members stood outside the hospital displaying signs of support. On Friday, Jun. 12, 2020 at 11:01 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of persons shot inside Shoelace Park located at East 226th Street and Bronx Boulevard, within the confines of the 47th precinct.
