Norwood: Attorney General Opens Investigation into Police-Involved Fatal Shooting in The Bronx

The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) has opened an investigation into the death of a civilian, who died on Nov. 3, as reported, following an encounter with members of the NYPD.   As reported, late in the morning on Nov. 3, police said two men were involved in a physical fight in a shop near the intersection of East Gun Hill Road and Hull Avenue in the Norwood section of The Bronx. Bronx Exhibit Celebrates “Friendship and Activism” of Puerto Rican LGBTQ+ Activist

In honor of LGBTQ+ History Month in October, Bronx Community College Archives and Special Collections and Bronx Community College LGBTQI+ Resource Room, in partnership with the Bronx County Historical Society, opened Have a Heart: Friendship & Activism of Jesús Lebrón, an exhibit that celebrates Bronx-born, Puerto Rican activist, Jesús Lebrón, and his central role in struggles for LGBTQ+ rights, including marriage equality.   Have a Heart opened at Bronx Community College on National Coming Out Day, Oct. 11, and consists of a selection from the Jesús Lebrón papers, recently donated to the Bronx County Archives at the Bronx County Historical Society

Bronx Man Gets 20 Years for Fatally Stabbing Wife in front of Children in October 2019

Bronx District Attorney (DA) Darcel D. Clark announced that a Bronx man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, plus five years post-release supervision, for stabbing his wife to death inside a Bronx homeless shelter in 2019.   In reference to the case, Clark said, “The defendant stabbed his wife in front of their children. This vicious attack not only took the life of a 19-year-old woman, but also ripped the two children from their mother, and caused trauma to staff working to provide services to the defendant at the shelter where the stabbing occurred.”   The district attorney

UPDATE Nathalia Fernandez Declares Historic Victory in Senate District 34 Race

Democratic Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez (A.D. 80) has declared victory in her State senate general election race in S.D. 34, having secured 64.74 percent of the total votes by 10.55 p.m. on Election Night, based on early voting and Election Day vote unofficial tallies. Absentee and overseas ballots still have to be counted. Her opponent, Republican, Samantha Zherka, won 35.16 percent of the vote on Election Night, as reported. UPDATE Elections 2022: Nov. 8 Unofficial Results & Reaction to Statewide and North Bronx Races

After the polls closed on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the New York City Board of Elections released the initial, unofficial results of the general elections, based on a percentage of returned poll site scanners. These initial results cover both early votes and election day votes.
