North Riverdale: Man Sought for Armed Robbery a Block from Site of Two Recent Sexual Assaults

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photos who they say is sought in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the North Riverdale section of The Bronx, a block from the location of two recent sexual assaults.

Police said that on Saturday, July 4, at around 3.45 p.m. inside 6571 Broadway, an unidentified person pointed a firearm at the 32-year-old male store employee and removed around $2,000 from the cash register.

They said the suspect then fled the location on a bike southbound along Broadway and there were no injuries reported following the robbery.

As reported, residents in the area have complained that in recent years, car break-ins have become more common along that stretch of Broadway and more recently, have raised concerns around personal safety and poor lighting following two sexual assaults that occurred beside or inside Van Cortlandt Park at nearby Broadway and West 261st and 262nd Streets respectively.
