The NYPD said they have made one arrest following a gunpoint robbery that occurred in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Feb. 14. Police had been asking for the public’s help identifying the two people seen in the attached video who they said were wanted for questioning in connection with the robbery.
They said that on Saturday, Feb. 14, (Valentine’s Day) at around 6.40 p.m., two unidentified people entered a business located at 3601 Bainbridge Avenue, a laundromat, and approached a 28-year-old male victim and a 29-year-old male victim.
“One of the individuals pointed a firearm at the 28-year-old male victim and forcibly removed his wallet and keys,” a police spokesperson said. “The other individual then pointed a firearm at the 29-year-old male victim and forcibly removed his jewelry and currency. The two unidentified individuals then fled on foot to parts unknown. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.”
Police said the first suspect is described as male, is around 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs around 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black face mask, a black, hooded jacket, black pants, and black sneakers.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Monday, Feb. 23, police said Wanderlin Mateo, 18, from the Belmont section of The Bronx was arrested on Feb. 20, at around 9.37 p.m. within the confines of the 49th Precinct, which covers some or all of the Bronx neighborhoods of Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens, and Pelham Gardens.
They said he was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon (a loaded firearm). He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
A 27-year-old male driver was robbed at gunpoint in Norwood, as reported, on Tuesday evening, Feb. 17, by two people, one of whom fired a bullet into the man’s car.
