The crew behind the iconic television crime drama, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” began filming its 25th season in August, and has been busy shooting around New York City in Brooklyn Heights, Washington Heights, and now at Manhattan College in Fieldston and on other streets in The Bronx.
On Friday, Aug. 29, the film crew was observed filming an accident involving a black passenger vehicle that appeared to have slammed into a school bus at the corner of Oxford Avenue and West 236th Street in Riverdale. The intersection was shut down to vehicular traffic as dozens of residents watched the shoot from across the street.

Actress Mariska Hargitay, who plays Det. Olivia Benson was not spotted at that particular shoot but was captured on several TikTok videos while the show was filmed on the campus of Manhattan College in Fieldston the previous week.
Hargitay recently produced HBO documentary, “My Mom Jayne,” about her equally, if not more, famous mother, actress Jayne Mansfield, a native of Pennsylvania, who died in 1967 at the age of 34 [not to be confused with Mansfield’s contemporary, Jane Russell, of “Gentlemen Prefer Blonds” fame]. The trailer for the documentary can be watched below.

Commenting on the TikTok video, one TikTok account holder, “Isabella,” remarked, “Seeing this diva on campus was simply the best thing ever.” Meanwhile, a former Manhattan College student commented, “Of course! Five years after I graduate, something cool happens.”
In one TikTok video, actors playing detectives and uniformed police officers are seen taking two men from a school, while a second clip shows Det. Benson placing the suspect in a patrol car.
After the shoot, “Gael,” another user posted, “My class got cancelled because of this.” Speaking later exclusively to Norwood News, Gael said, “I woke up for no reason and my teacher didn’t email me whether there was class or not.”

He continued, “The school gave us warning about ‘Law & Order‘ shooting a scene at the school but I wasn’t expecting my class to not be in the classroom since I would be in the basement.” Gael appeared to suggest his classroom was in the basement of the building.
Asked if the film crew ended up working in the basement, he replied, “No they didn’t, which is why I assumed my class would still be there.” He concluded, “It was good to watch it since I had grown up watching them a little bit. I was watching it for a couple of minutes before heading home.”

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the AMP Talent Group posted on Facebook, “Now filming in New York City! Law & Order SVU is back on set for Season 25, and the streets of NYC are once again filled with cameras, cast, and crew, bringing the iconic series to life. As one of television’s most enduring and beloved dramas, SVU continues to shine a spotlight on powerful stories, and we’re thrilled to see production rolling in the Big Apple.”
As reported, the Paramount+ show “Dexter” was filmed on East 205th Street between the Grand Concourse and East Mosholu Parkway South / Lisbon Place in Bedford Park earlier this year, but not without causing some angst for Superbowl fans.
“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Season 25 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
