Police said an off duty NYPD detective was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the confines of the 50th Precinct which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Riverdale, Fieldston, Kingsbridge, Marble Hill, and Spuyten Duyvil.
Police said Yahnny Arias, 34, an NYPD detective, was arrested at 5.36 a.m. and charged with assault. Arias, a police officer since 2015, and a detective specialist since Sept. 5, is assigned to Housing Police Service Area (PSA) 8.
Police Service Area 8 serves the NYCHA developments located within the confines of the 43rd and 45th precincts. PSA 8’s Edenwald satellite is located at 1165 East 229th Street in Edenwald.
The satellite patrols the NYCHA development within the confines of the 47th Precinct which covers the neighborhoods of Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville, Fishbay, and Woodlawn Cemetery.
Arias is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
