Feel the rhythm of Latin Tropical music from Luis Vargas, Jose Alberto, and more this summer. New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently announced that the 5-borough, summer concert series Rise Up NYC, is returning. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Orchard Beach, a high-energy night of Latin Tropical music will be held that City officials say will have the whole city dancing.
The free concert features some of the biggest names in Latin music. They said Luis Vargas, the legendary “El Rey Supremo” of bachata, brings his signature sound and electrifying energy to the stage, along with Jose Alberto “El Canario,” “a salsa icon whose smooth voice and powerful presence make him a must-see live performer.”

Also performing are El Blachy, “a rising star delivering tropical rhythms and fresh vibes for the next generation,” and George Lamond, “a freestyle and salsa sensation” known for classics like Bad of the Heart and Que Te Vas.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and showtime is 6 p.m. “This is more than a concert, it’s a celebration of community and Caribbean flavor in the heart of the Bronx,” concert organizers said. “Don’t miss it!” For a complete schedule of Rise Up NYC summer concert series, click here.
