Police have launched a murder investigation after a 40-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed inside a Wakefield home on Saturday night, June 28.
The NYPD said on Saturday, at around 8.35 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a woman who had been stabbed inside a building on East 232nd Street, between Carpenter Avenue and White Plains Road.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 40-year-old female with a stab wound to the chest and right arm,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the victim to Montefiore hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.”
The deceased was later identified as Tamara Rowe, 40, of East 232nd Street in Wakefield.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Tuesday, July 1, police said that Khaleel Cooper, 39, of East 232nd Street in Wakefield, who it’s been reported by the NY Daily News was the victim’s boyfriend, was arrested on Monday, June 30. at 3.05 p.m. in The Bronx.
They said he was charged with murder, manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
