One man is dead, and a second man is in police custody after a dispute led to a fatal stabbing on Mother’s Day at a bus stop at Fordham Plaza. According to the NYPD, police officers from the 48th Precinct were called for a report of a “male stabbed” at a bus stop at East Fordham Road and Webster Avenue in Fordham Manor at 5.52 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.
A police spokesperson told Norwood News, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 31-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to the torso. The victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
The following day, police identified the victim as Fode Bamba, 31, of East 161st Street in The Bronx, and on Monday, May 12, the NYPD announced the arrest of Dontay Taylor, 20, of Ford Street in Fordham Heights, The Bronx. Taylor now faces murder, manslaughter and weapons possession charges stemming from Bamba’s death.

We later followed up and asked the NYPD if the department could confirm if the stabbing was linked to an attempted robbery, as was alleged in a Citizens App post. We did not receive an immediate response.
Video posted to the Citizens App of the crime scene shows paramedics going in and out of an ambulance as police cordon off an area around a bus stop with crime scene tape on the south side of East Fordham Road. A young man is seen walking away with a police officer. It’s unknown if the man is Taylor or someone else.
A large portion of Fordham Plaza surrounding a fruit stand was also cordoned off with crime scene tape. A traffic cone, often used by police to mark evidence at crime scenes, was placed where a jacket had been left on the pavement. A photo taken several hours later shows an NYPD evidence marker at the same location.
