The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photo who they say is wanted in connection to an attempted theft that occurred in University Heights.
Police said that on Tuesday, March 25, at around 9.15 p.m., an 18-year-old female victim was in the vicinity of Evelyn Place and Jerome Avenue when an unidentified individual approached from behind. “The individual attempted to snatch her purse and cellphone but was unsuccessful,” a police spokesperson said. “No property was removed, and the individual fled the location on foot, traveling eastbound on Evelyn Place. There were no injuries reported.”
The sought individual is described as male, has a light complexion, and was last seen wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, black jeans and black sneakers.
